*This machine was shipped with two different boards. The PII 400MHz or 450MHz models using 440GX chipset can reach 2GB maximum using the 512MB modules. The older PII models with 440BX chipsets can only reach 1GB max using 256MB modules.
Memory speed may differ from the original system memory but is guaranteed to work in your computer. When mixed, the memory will run at the slowest speed installed or the highest speed allowed by your system.

Your Dell PowerEdge 2300 (Pentium lll) only supports modules made with a specific type of chip. Should you find what seems to be the exact same memory elsewhere for a lower price, it is very possible that the cheaper memory will not work in your system.
