DDR SDRAM |
DDR SDRAM: A Pioneer in Its Own RightDouble Data Rate Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory or DDR SDRAM is a type of memory that is similar to Synchronous DRAM in that it evolved out of SDRAM, but has a higher bandwidth. Data is read at both the leading and falling edge allowing one clock transfer for twice the speed. Due to that speed, this RAM memory is used in PCs, notebooks, servers and as a platform for networking. It is also used for business and entertainment applications, but made and tested without great monetary investments. For the year 2002, DDR SDRAM served over 50% of the memory market. The Obstacle for a Better Speed DDR memory allows a new generation of increased performance, lower-cost computer systems, including desktops, workstations, servers, notebooks, and compact - and sub-compact computers, as well as new communications and networking products such as routers and switches to reply with a double time action. Intel and Rambus, Inc. are the main manufacturers for this memory. When DDR first entered the scene, VIA and Intel's Pentium models were the two major users of this highly expensive product. To assist in a lower priced computer system with DDR memory, VIA joined Intel in creating a new chipset memory. As time progressed, so did the development of different chipsets with different bus clocks yet a better fit for your machine. FYI... Please understand that by explaining the concept of DDR or DDR SDRAM, we hope this will make you more comfortable with your purchase. There are different amounts of just this one type of memory; the page could go on and on. Please contact us if you would assistance with your decision. |
