Memory Upgrade

Well, first, let's take an imaginary trip to the beach (stick with me). There are sand pockets that can hold water; some, of course, are deeper than others. If a pocket is not deep enough, water will just roll over top of the dent in the sand, then roll back into the ocean. Memory upgrades are those deep pockets and they allow for your computer to have a faster response time. When your memory is full, your system transfers data to the hard drive instead of memory chips or the memory won't hold in the pockets like it's supposed to-just roll over and go away into the ocean. Since the hard drive is considerably slower than DRAM, your system seems slower altogether with no pockets at all. Without the deep pockets, your memory is virtually useless and the water (material that's trying to be kept) will leave a mixed up mess and may possibly not come back again.

How do I know what's right for me? Just ask us and we'll be glad to assist you. Here are just a few facts to help you decide if you need a memory upgrade:

1. Your operating system (Windows ME, XP, etc.) are key factors when considering the speed of your computer. Each operating system comes with a certain amount of memory, but as technology becomes more advanced the memory becomes less warranted.
2. If you have many programs open at once is a big problem. The bell rang and all of the students are in the hallway at once, talking and pushing. The hallway is your memory-but it's delicate and can't handle the "students" like walls can.
3. Playing video games heavily.
4. If the hard drive light flashes often with standard processing.
5. If you receive error messages stating there's not enough memory
