Installing Apple Macintosh Computer Memory
The first thing everyone needs to know about installing Apple Macintosh computer memory is that they need to buy the correct memory stick. All too often, people will buy an incompatible memory stick, try to install it, and get frustrated when it doesn't fit. Here's how to avoid this problem.
First, you have to know what model your computer is before you shop for new Apple Macintosh computer memory, or any other memory upgrades for that matter. When you search online for your memory upgrade by model number, it's much easier to find not only Apple manufactured memory cards, but also compatible upgrades made by other manufacturers. This could mean a ton of savings for you!
Now that you have your new memory card, you have to be extremely careful when you install it. Before you open your computer or the memory's packaging, you HAVE TO discharge any static electricity your body might have. Not doing so is a quick way to ruin your new memory card and your computer.
The preferable way to do this is to have an anti-static wrist strap or anti-static gloves. You can touch the computer's frame to discharge the static electricity, but there's always the risk that you'll build a new charge while you're installing the computer's new memory. It's always better to be safe than sorry.
